Is AI a New Addiction?
I bought a Mac Studio and a stack of AI agents to get my time back, and ended up busier, more stressed and unable to stop building. The loop looks a lot like a casino: variable rewards, near misses, chasing losses, and workflows as chips. Researchers are already building addiction scales for AI use, though nobody has proven it works like a slot machine in the brain. This piece covers what the research backs, what is only my opinion, and where I think a generation raised on instant results could end up.
